Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is irritation of the median nerve as it passes under the transverse carpal ligament into the wrist. It has several different causes. It will cause pain, tingling,
Numbness and weakness in the part of the hand supplied by the nerve.
Massage therapists carefully work on or around the wrist to elevate
discomfort. Speak to your therapist about the type of CTS and what
caused it as this help determine the best approach.
Tendinitis: Tendinitis is the inflamation of a tendon usually due to
injury or over-use. Pain and stiffness is present and in acute cases may also be warm to the touch and swollen. Pain is exacerbated by resisted excercise of the injured muscle-tendon unit.
Massage is indicated for Tendinitis in the subacute stage to influence
the production of useful scar tissue, reduce adhesions and adema and to reestablish range of motion.
